Manchester Airport has revealed it has 2,500 jobs on offer at a huge fair in the new year.

The event on January 13 will help 26 employers based at the hub to recruit for roles across its site.

Jobs on offer include airport security, check-in staff, baggage handlers, cabin crew, retail, hospitality, aircraft dispatchers, engineering, drivers, customer service and receptionists.

As well as Manchester Airport itself, employers at the event will be World Duty Free group, The Nauance Group, Costa Coffee, WH Smith, Aviator, Menzies Aviation, Holiday Inn Express, Jet2.com, and Jet2Holidays.

The first hour will be for Wythenshawe residents, with the rest of the day open to all.

Manchester Airport already employs 21,500 people on the site. It supports a further 45,000 jobs in the region.

Thanks to the hub’s success - with a record 23m annual passengers, 210 destination and more than 70 airlines, a recruitment drive is needed.

To help fill the new roles, Manchester Airport will have a number of permanent positions available at the Jobs Fair in addition to the other companies exhibiting.

Ken O’Toole, managing director, said: “We are delighted that 2,500 jobs will be available across the airport site at the Jobs Fair in January 2016.

"Not only will these roles directly feed into, and increase, the 21,500 positions currently across the airport site, but they will also plug into the wider 45,000 jobs the airport indirectly supports across the region.

“Manchester Airport not only plays a vital role in providing international connectivity for the region, it is also an economic provider and job creator.

"In the north west alone the airport makes an economic impact of £1.7bn. As we grow and increase upon our 23m passengers and 210 destinations, in turn employment and economic value will also continue to grow.

“We look forward to welcoming people from our local communities and the wider region and wish them every success in accessing the variety of roles available.”

Manchester Airport Recruitment staff, supported by the Airport Academy, will also be on hand throughout the day to help with applications and give CV master classes.

Manchester Airport Jobs Fair is on Wednesday, January 13, from 11am to 7pm, at the Runway Visitor Park on Sunbank Lane, WA15 8XQ. Admission and parking are both free, and there is a free shuttle bus from the airport train station every 30 minutes.
